When moving from one apartment to another and you’ve considered hiring a moving company, it does not mean that there is nothing left for you to do. While it is true that San Diego moving and packing companies will send out people to pack your things, deliver them to your new address and unpack them, you need to prepare the things that you would leave to them to pack, like some of your valuable jewelries, your clothing and other personal belongings just to ensure that you would be able to locate them after the moving process. Here are some packing and moving tips that you should do:
Separate personal valuables
Before the movers came in, you should set these things aside and pack them yourself. This will not take a lot of your time. Make sure that you label them according to category or use colored boxes for different rooms, like violet boxes for the kitchen, blue boxes for the bathroom, etc. You get the idea? You should also label them “fragile” of they are or “do not touch” if you want to keep this box with you in your car to personally carry.
Remove the breakables and the liquid containers from the drawers
In a lot of cases, movers only tape the drawers and not actually remove its content before carrying them over to your new address. This maximizes the space and minimizes their tasks. If you are keeping liquid bottles of breakables, consider taping the caps of the bottles and removing the breakables and place them with the other breakable items. Movers will likely wrap them up with bubble wraps to ensure their safety.
Separate the flammable and combustible items
Whether you are hiring professional packers and movers, it is best if you separate these and label accordingly. In fact, if you can throw them away or leave them out, the better because your safety must be prioritized.
Defrost your refrigerators and dispose perishable items
You surely don’t want your boxes to get wet while on travel right? So, a day before the moving day, consider throwing away the perishable items from your fridge and then defrost your freezers.
